Alexandria could see snowfall this weekend, starting as early as Friday (tomorrow) afternoon.
A National Weather Service said while tonight (Thursday) will be mostly clear, there’s a chance for rain and snow showers tomorrow (Friday) starting after 1 p.m.
The chance of precipitation is 50%, going down to 20% later in the evening.
Saturday and most of Sunday should be relatively clear, but the National Weather Service said the chance of snow goes up to 80% on Sunday. The Capital Weather Gang estimated a three-in-four chance of more than three inches of snow.
That snow could continue on Monday, though it’s expected to be sunny by Tuesday.
ARLnow noted the timing could extend a two-week winter break for students, depending on the amount of snowfall. That break would be slightly longer for Alexandria students, given that in-person classes were canceled after fights at Alexandria City High School last month.
