Eight displaced after West End apartment fire Sunday night

There were no injuries after an apartment fire in Alexandria’s West End early Monday morning (Dec. 23).

The fire in the three-story apartment complex was called in at around 12:15 a.m., according to dispatch.

Eight people in the building were displaced due to the fire and were relocated with help from the Red Cross, according to the Alexandria Fire Department.

The fire was contained to a single apartment and the cause is under investigation, according to AFD.

According to AFD Local 2141:

Early this morning Engine and Truck 208 along with surrounding companies arrived with fire showing from a top floor apartment in the 300 Block of South Whiting Street. With initial reports of occupants trapped, the crews made quick entry and extinguished all visible fire and confirmed no one was trapped in the apartment.
