With nearly 900 existing affordable housing units and growing, Housing Alexandria is celebrating its 20th anniversary.

The nonprofit announced its 20th anniversary this week, a milestone for a city where expenses are otherwise high.

“We are incredibly proud of the work we have done over the past 20
years,” said Jon Frederick, president and CEO of Housing Alexandria in a statement. “We have been able to provide premiere affordable housing to
thousands of people, helping them to build better lives for themselves
and their families.”

Rebranded last year from the Alexandria Housing Development Corporation, the nonprofit is currently developing a 474-unit affordable housing complex at the intersection of Mount Vernon Avenue and Glebe Road in Arlandria as well as an affordable homeowner development on Seminary Road.

“We are committed to continuing our mission of providing affordable
housing and supportive services to the Alexandria community,” said
Frederick. “With the support of our partners, volunteers, and donors, we will continue to make a positive impact for years to come.”
