Alexandria’s slate of Democratic City Council candidates will square off against Republican and Independent challengers in a forum next week.

The Potomac Yard Civic Association and Taylor Run Citizens’ Association are hosting a forum on Wednesday, Oct. 16, from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Charles Houston Rec Center (901 Wythe Street).

The forum will be moderated by local Washington Post reporter Teo Armus.

The event is free and open to the public. Anyone with an idea for a question for the candidates can submit it to Adrien Lopez at [email protected].

Democrats Canek Aguirre, Sarah Bagley, John Chapman, Kirk McPike, Abdel Elnoubi and Jacinta Greene won the Democratic nomination in the primary earlier this year, with all but the last two serving as incumbent City Council members.

They face off against Republican Celianna Gunderson and Independents Mason Butler and Roy Byrd.
