The Alexandria Police Department (APD) is seeking help from anyone who might have information on a very young girl who was seen alone early this morning (Monday) near the Brookville neighborhood.

APD conducted a search of the area around the 900 block of N. Van Dorn Street but said no investigation is currently ongoing.

“Early this morning, at approximately 2 a.m., APD officers responded to the 900 block of N. Van Dorn where a tow truck driver encountered a young girl, possibly 8-10 years old, sitting alone in a parking lot,” APD Communications Manager Tracy Walker said. “The driver immediately contacted the police, and the girl fled.”

Walker said the girl was described as wearing a purple sweat suit and carrying a backpack.

“A search was conducted overnight,” Walker said. “There have been no reports of a missing girl fitting this description. If you have any information regarding this incident, please call the APD non-emergency number 703-746-4444.”
