A group of Alexandria runners from the Old Town Run Club will be making a four-day trip from the Pentagon up to New York City next month to commemorate 9/11.

In a release, the club said the plan is to depart on the morning of Sept. 8 with a military send off and reading at the Pentagon.

“At least 60 runners will run 267 miles arriving in NYC for the reading at ground zero on the morning of the 11th of September,” a release from the club said. “We are running in tribute and remembrance to our heroes who paid the ultimate price that day and have partnered with Tunnel to Towers (T2T) as our charity.”

A chart shows the start and finish locations along the way, totaling up to 267 miles traveled. The day before the group leaves, there will also be a 5k around Alexandria with pictures outside of establishments around Old Town supporting the run.

“This run is more than just a physical challenge,” the release said, “it is a tribute to the bravery and selflessness of the first responders, firefighters, police officers, and military personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty.”
