D.C. bar Death & Co. near Mount Vernon Square closed earlier this summer for repairs, but will make a surprise return as a pop-up inside Hotel Heron (699 Prince Street) in Old Town.
The bar is reopening today for a limited run inside what will eventually be Hotel Heron’s own bar, Francis Hall.
“What started as a closure for summer repairs at Death & Co. has transformed into a two-week collaboration between friends and first look at Hotel Heron’s soon-to-open bar, Francis Hall,” a release from the hotel said. “Guests can experience the pop-up at Hotel Heron, August 8th – 10th and August 15th – 17th from 6 p.m. to 12 a.m., featuring a limited-edition menu of Death & Co classics and D.C. originals.”
The Death & Co. pop-up is a prelude to the new bar, Francis Hall, opening in September.
“Stepping into the jaw-dropping space, guests will be floored by the dramatic tented ceiling, rich jewel tones and burnished brass bar,” the release said. “The cocktail lounge is designed to feel overtly luxurious and upscale, from the velvet and fringe banquettes to the antique mirror accents. The menu features 30 drinks, ranging from approachable to experiential, inviting guests to indulge in a wide selection of craft spirits and luxurious libations.”
