With nine candidates running for nine spots, there’s no contest in the upcoming Alexandria School Board elections. Still, residents have a chance to meet the incumbents and newcomers in a series of meet-and-greets.

The first of these meet-and-greets with the public will be held by District A candidates on Saturday, Aug. 10 with School Board Chair Michelle Rief, Board Member Tim Beaty and Ryan Reyna.

Reyna, a principle at Education Strategy Group, is an Alexandria City Public Schools parent of two. He is replacing outgoing Board Member Jacinta Greene, who is leaving the Board after winning a spot on the Democratic ticket for City Council.

The event will be held at the interactive fountain at Potomac Yard Park at 2501 Potomac Avenue.

Meetups for District B and C candidates haven’t yet been posted.

Election day is Tuesday, Nov. 5.
