Alexandria’s Summer Sidewalk Sale is returning to Old Town and Del Ray next month, followed shortly by Alexandria Restaurant Week.
The annual Alexandria Summer Sidewalk Sale is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 10, according to Visit Alexandria. The streets around Old Town and Del Ray will likely be lined with local boutiques setting up shop outside of their storefronts and offering discounted summer merchandise. A list of participating shops is available online.
“The event is one of the longest-running seasonal summer shopping events in the D.C. region, featuring 60+ independent Alexandria boutiques,” the Visit Alexandria website said.
Later in August, Alexandria Restaurant Week will run across the city. From Aug. 16-25, dozens of restaurants will offer special $27.50, $40 or $50 in-person dinners, with the $27.50 being a cheeky reference to the city’s 275th anniversary.
“Alexandria Restaurant Week showcases the inventiveness of local chefs and international cuisine in neighborhoods throughout the city, including Old Town, Del Ray, Carlyle and Eisenhower and the West End,” Visit Alexandria said. “In early August, guests will find a digital flip-book of menus at participating restaurants on AlexandriaRestaurantWeek.com.”
