Shirlington Circle bridge closed this weekend for rehabilitation work

The Shirlington Circle south rotary bridge — which connects Shirlington to Alexandria — will be closed (again) this weekend for rehabilitation work on the bridge with drivers sent on a lengthy detour down I-395.

VDOT said in a release that the bridge will closed from 10 p.m. on Saturday, July 13, until 5 a.m. on Tuesday, July 16.

“The bridge connects the southbound I-395 collector-distributor lanes and southbound Shirlington Road to North Quaker Lane at the I-395 Exit 6 interchange,” VDOT said.

VDOT said drivers will be detoured along the following routes:

  • Southbound I-395 general purpose lanes: Ramp to Seminary Road (Exit 4), eastbound Seminary Road, ramp to northbound I-395/Washington, northbound I-395 general purpose lanes and the Exit 6/Shirlington ramp back to Quaker Lane
  • Shirlington Road/Campbell Avenue: Ramp to southbound I-395/Richmond, southbound I-395 general purpose lanes, ramp to Seminary Road (Exit 4), eastbound Seminary Road, ramp to northbound I-395/Washington, northbound I-395 general purpose lanes and the Exit 6/Shirlington ramp back to Quaker Lane
