Drivers traveling on N. Quaker Lane or I-395 near the Shirlington/North Ridge border this weekend should expect some delays.

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) said double-lane closures are planned near the Shirlington interchange on Saturday, May 11, and Sunday, May 12.

“Weather permitting, two lanes will be closed between 11 p.m. Saturday, May 11 and 9 a.m. Sunday, May 12 at the Shirlington Circle south rotary bridge,” VDOT said in a release. “At least one lane will remain open at all times. Once the work is completed Sunday morning, May 12, the 395 Express Lanes will be shifted to the left at the bridge when running northbound and to the right when running southbound until late summer.”

VDOT warned that drivers should expect delays and are advised to find alternate routes.

The planned closures follow others from last month and are part of a project to rehabilitate the Shirlington Circle bridge over I-295.
