Potomac Yard senior living community The Landing hosted an event this past Saturday that brought trick or treating into the residents’ homes.

The event allowed seniors to interact with children and hand out candy to celebrate the weekend, while partnering with Children & Family Network of Alexandria to offer children a safe environment to trick-or-treat.

“The Landing [invited] the underserved children on site and provided basic costumes and masks as well as trick-or-treating fun at the residents’ homes,” the release said. “Just because the families and children do not have the resources to purchase costumes and participate in the October fun doesn’t mean they won’t get a chance!”

There were around 80-100 children involved with the event, some from Children & Family Network, and others were the grandchildren of residents.

“This collaboration highlights the significant support and consideration extended to our families within the Alexandria community,” Karli Raggio, development manager for the Child & Family Network, said in a release. “We are so grateful to The Landing for organizing this fun event, which offers a valuable opportunity for our families who may be facing limited alternatives or financial constraints in providing this experience for their children.”
