Alexandria’s Del Ray neighborhood celebrated red, white and blue on First Thursday (July 7).
The evening included live music at Pat Miller Neighborhood Square (at Oxford and Mount Vernon Avenues) with bands, cake pops and the annual Pork Barrel Watermelon Seed-Spitting Contest.
ALXnow’s James Cullum and his eight-year-old son Henry won both the adult and kids 12-and-under categories of the watermelon seed-spitting contest, making them the first-ever father-son team to win the titles.
