Alexandria is under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 9 p.m.
The National Weather Service issued the advisory at 2:12 p.m.
“Scattered severe thunderstorms with damaging wind gusts and isolated large hail are possible,” NWS said. “Isolated instances of flash flooding are possible through early this evening.”
A heat advisory is also in effect until 8 p.m., as the heat index is showing temperatures in excess of 100 degrees, according to NWS.
