If all goes well, Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams will be opening in about three weeks.
The new ice cream shop is replacing Misha’s Coffee at 102 S. Patrick Street, with Misha’s moving earlier this year to 907 King Street. A manager at the site said Jeni’s plans to open by Wednesday, Nov. 13.
Jeni’s is an Ohio-based artisan ice cream producer with a cult following and a chain of about three dozen stores nationwide. It advertises that it uses no artificial flavors or colors, and has dairy-free options available.
The ice cream shop is next door to lingerie shop Bloomers and the butterfly wings mural you’ve probably seen all over Instagram and Twitter. A sign on the wall of the shop says it’s currently hiring.
This isn’t the only new frozen dessert chain in town: Goodies owner Brandon Byrd is planning to open a frozen custard stand a couple blocks away on Payne Street. The shop is planned to open next spring.
