An APD officer called for assistance shortly after 7 a.m., and the Alexandria Fire Department responded to a cardiac arrest call for service, according to radio dispatches.
The man’s body was located near a children’s playground, and was found just feet away from where a man accidentally drowned in April.
The spot is near apartment complexes, is littered with alcohol containers and trash and is a popular hangout.
“There is currently police presence at 4131 Mount Vernon as APD conducts a death investigation,” APD said on social media. “Preliminary cause appears to be medical. There is no active threat to the public.”
