The ye olde Taco Bell Cantina on King Street in the heart of Old Town (417 King Street) is set to get a new upgrade that could be getting a new pickup window for to-go orders.

The new plan proposes to add an aluminum framed “pick-up window” to the front of the store. The proposal is scheduled to head to the Board of Architectural Review on Wednesday, March 5.

Pizzeria Paradiso announced that it will be returning as an “ongoing pizza pop up” in Hank’s Oyster Bar (818 N. St. Asaph Street) in Old Town North every Thursday-Sunday, starting March 13.

The Washington Revels Jubilee Voices will be performing a free concert at The Lyceum (201 S. Washington Street) on Sunday (Feb. 16) as part of Alexandria’s Black History Month celebrations.

Jubilee Voices is a group led by Alexandria’s former Senior Communications Officer Andrea Blackford which performs a mix of a cappella, drama, spoken word and dance that highlight local and regional history.

Teal Dye, owner of Lotus Blooms, said Valentine’s Day is the busiest time of year for the shop.

A parade this weekend in Old Town will celebrate America’s first Commander-in-Chief: George Washington.

The parade is scheduled for 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 15. The theme this year is commemorating the 250th anniversary of the American Revolutionary War.

A large mixed-use building in Old Town was sold last week for $38.85 million, Washington Business Journal first reported.

The sale is of Tavern Square, a building consisting of 421 King, 123 N Pitt, and 110 and 132 N Royal Streets, which occupies a full city block in Old Town Alexandria. The 171,738-square-foot property contains a mix of retail and office uses. The release notes the building was renovated back in 2019 to add a fitness center, a new conference center and more.

The La Madeleine at 500 King Street in Old Town is temporarily closed, but signs in the window say it will reopen next month.

The coffee shop, next to the Alexandria Circuit Court and directly adjacent to a Starbucks, has signs in the window saying the shop will reopen on March 16.
