It’s finally Friday in Alexandria!

Here’s a look back at our top stories of the week. Topping off our coverage are the delectable poll results on the top three Mexican restaurants in the city. More than 1,800 foodies cast their votes, and Taqueria el Poblano (2400B Mount Vernon Avenue) in Del Ray took the top spot, followed by Taqueria Picoso (1472 N. Beauregard Street) and Los Tios Grill (2615 Mount Vernon Avenue). Do you agree with the results?

Some big changes are being proposed at 400 King Street in Old Town.

The building takes over an entire city block and is currently home to The Alexandrian Old Town Hotel at 480 King Street and Southern restaurant King & Rye. The latter is undergoing an interior renovation and is serving a limited menu through the end of March.

If you’ve got a sweet tooth, two Alexandria businesses just made Washingtonian’s list for making the best desserts in the D.C. area.

The Washingtonian food editors chose the olive-oil cake at Thompson Italian (1024 King Street) and “the big apple” at Goodies Frozen Custard and Treats (200 Commerce Street) as their go-to last course.
