Measles case reported at Dulles last weekend led to potential N. Va. exposures

Health officials are advising of potential measles exposures after confirming a case that traveled through Washington Dulles International Airport last Saturday.

A person with measles traveled through the Dulles airport and took a shuttle bus to its rental car facilities on Saturday, Jan. 24. Health officials “are coordinating an effort to identify people who might have been exposed, including contacting potentially exposed passengers on specific flights,” the Virginia Department of Health said in a release today (Saturday).

Regional airport leaders tout results of 2025 satisfaction survey at DCA, Dulles

The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority is taking the recent results of an annual national airport satisfaction survey in stride, despite its airports falling below average scores.

Reagan National Airport ranked 20th and Dulles International ranked 23rd among 27 “large” airports — the middle size level among three categories — in the J.D. Power 2025 North American Airports Satisfaction Survey. The 27 airports in that cohort had an average satisfaction score of 656, and both Dulles (612) and National (623) fell short of it.

WASHINGTON — Reagan National Airport and Dulles International Airport are among 40 airports where flights will be cut this tomorrow (Friday) due to the government shutdown, according to a list obtained by The Associated Press.

The Federal Aviation Administration announced Wednesday it would reduce air traffic by 10% across “high-volume” markets to maintain travel safety as air traffic controllers go unpaid and exhibit signs of strain during the shutdown.

Health officials investigate potential measles exposure at Dulles Airport

Alexandria residents who traveled through Washington Dulles International Airport on Aug. 12 may have been exposed to measles, according to health officials.

The Virginia Department of Health was notified of a confirmed measles case involving an out-of-state resident who traveled through the airport that day. The potential exposure occurred in the main terminal, at the TSA security checkpoint, in Concourse B and on transportation between the main terminal and Concourse B from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
