The Alexandria City School Board voted tonight (Oct. 8) to appoint the school division’s next superintendent.
Jharrett Bryantt, superintendent of the Anchorage School District in Alaska, will become Alexandria City Public Schools’ superintendent, effective Feb. 1, 2027. The School Board announced the appointment following a closed session at its meeting.

School Board Chair Christopher Harris announced in an email to the Alexandria City Public Schools community that contract negotiations with the new superintendent “concluded earlier than anticipated.”

During a special meeting Wednesday (Aug. 12), the Alexandria City School Board appointed ACPS Chief of Staff Grace Taylor as acting superintendent. According to a statement from ACPS, the School Board and Kay-Wyatt agreed to change her resignation date from Oct. 1 to Aug. 12.
