A 39-year-old Alexandria man skipped his court date this week after being charged with brandishing a firearm against his mother.

Linwood Gunter did not show up for court on Tuesday (Feb. 22), and his case is pending. He was arrested on the date of the incident, Feb. 8, and released on $1,000 bond the next day after receiving the brandishing charge.

A 30-year-old Alexandria man held without bond in the city jail is wanted across the country for at stealing at least luxury vehicles with fake identifications around the country.

Serge Ahmed Zeba, a native of Burkina Faso, West Africa, was arrested in the parking lot of the Extended Stay Hotel in the Landmark area on Jan. 26, and was charged with possessing a fictitious identification or license, possession of a stolen vehicle, unauthorized use of a stolen vehicle and providing a false identity to law enforcement.

A 26-year-old Washington, D.C. man has been sentenced to three months in the Alexandria jail after leaving the scene of an accident while driving a stolen car in the West End in January.

Jarrel Bailey was arrested driving a stolen Dodge Challenger on Jan. 3 after Alexandria police attempted to pull him over for reckless driving on Monday, January 3. The Challenger took off at high speed, and then “struck an uninvolved motorist,” according to a search warrant affidavit.

A 43-year Loudoun County man was arrested last month for allegedly pushing his girlfriend and causing her fracture her elbow.

After being wanted for outstanding warrants for more than a month, Thomas Abernathy was arrested on Jan. 20 and charged with malicious wounding and domestic assault and battery. He was released that same day on $1,500 and $500 bonds.

Three men are in custody after allegedly shooting handguns at a parked vehicle in the West End and wounding a bystander on Sunday afternoon (Jan. 9).

The incident occurred at around 3:20 p.m. in the parking lot of the 7-Eleven convenience store at 30 S. South Reynolds Street. The Alexandria Police Department reported that two of the suspect left the store, got into a parked car and then fired shots at another car in the parking lot.

A 24-year-old Alexandria man has been arrested for the Dec. 13 drive-by shooting in the Braddock area. No one was injured in the incident, but police say nine handgun rounds were fired at another vehicle.

Antonio Barkley was charged with unlawful discharge of a weapon, felonious assault, and shooting or throwing missiles at vehicle.

A 26-year-old Alexandria man faces drug and trespassing charges after his mother asked police to search her home in the northeast section of the city.

The man was arrested on Sunday, Dec. 5, after a series of events that began the previous night.

John Thomas Bey, a 52-year old resident of Alexandria, has been hit with several charges connected to his alleged role in a barricade situation last week that lasted nearly 24 hours.

Bey has been charged with unlawful discharge of a firearm in a school zone, attempted felonious assault, and malicious shooting into an occupied police vehicle, according to a press release from the City of Alexandria.

A 26-year-old Maryland woman faces serious charges after allegedly fleeing from a police investigation of a shoplifting offense at the Target store in the Potomac Yard shopping center.

“During the course of investigating this incident, one of the suspects resisted arrest and jumped into a vehicle,” police reported in a search warrant affidavit.

(Updated 5/9/22) A 38-year-old Maryland man is being held without bond after a violent argument against his ex-girlfriend in her West End apartment on November 2.

The incident occurred at around 12:30 p.m. in the 5400 block of Bradford Court. The victim told police that she was driving home and talking with the suspect on Facetime, but that he was already waiting for her in the parking lot to meet in person. They met and went inside the apartment, where the victim allegedly told the suspect that she was starting a romantic relationship with someone else, according to a search warrant affidavit.

The driver who struck and killed local resident Roy Saravia Alvarez on Saturday, Nov. 13, has been arrested by the Alexandria Police Department.

Police said that a warrant for involuntary manslaughter was issued and 45-year-old Fredy Ortiz-Dominguez of Hyattsville, Maryland, turned himself in to police custody yesterday (Thursday). Ortiz-Dominguez is being held at the Alexandria Detention Center without bail.
