Our Savior Lutheran Pre-K offers a wide variety of stimulating learning opportunities for children to grow socially, physically, and academically in a nurturing Christian environment.

Believing that four-year-olds learn best through play and exploration, activities are designed to inspire creativity, develop critical thinking skills, encourage social and emotional growth, and provide opportunities to practice fine and gross motor skills. Each week includes bible stories, music, art, and themed activities which enhance our learning and help us practice the many skills used in kindergarten. Our program includes the curriculum, “Learning Without Tears”, using an age-appropriate approach to writing numbers and letters. STEM activities encourage exploration with concepts in math and science.

Chris Green is one of the DMV’s finest fitness instructors. A Lululemon and South Block ambassador, he is a coach and mentor to so many. He embodies grace, positivity and motivation in ways that no one else can. If we could all learn a thing or two from him, the world would be a much better place. He does so much for others, and does so with a smile on his face 99% of the time.

He recently ruptured his Achilles and has an incredibly long and tough journey ahead. As if COVID hadn’t impacted fitness professionals enough, throw this in the mix and it’s a double, even triple whammy. CG is no longer able to work and do what he loves for the time being because of this and we’d love your support.

When Anna Jaeger was nominated as a candidate for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Woman of the Year, she couldn’t say no. She lost her brother to leukemia in 2012, and knew she wanted to turn the worst period of her life into something positive. The LLS Man & Woman of the Year campaign is a 10-week, friendly but spirited competition to raise the most money for LLS.

Funds raised help further LLS’ mission to “cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease, and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.” When the pandemic altered everything, she knew she had to double down and work harder to hit her goal.

When Encore Creativity for Older Adults, the nation’s largest choral organization for adults over 55, had to cancel its summer programs due to the pandemic, the Alexandria Encore Chorale and Alexandria Encore ROCKS singers were devastated.

Yet, Encore has come up with a new virtual summer program: The Encore University Summer School, a six-week semester of over 20 unique offerings of singing, music courses and vocal instruction led by noted conductors. The program will meet over Zoom from July 6 to August 13, and is open to all men and women over 55. No prior music experience is needed.
