Adoptable Pet of the Week: Oakley, senior sweetheart and ‘couch potato’

Meet Oakley, an “extra-large dog with a big heart” at the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria who enjoys walks and slow, snuggly afternoons.

The 10-year-old senior fellow is “a sweetheart with a winning personality,” according to an AWLA volunteer. The pooch is fairly calm, enjoys meeting new humans and knows cues to sit and shake.

“Despite his age, Oakley’s nose for fun is fully engaged,” the volunteer wrote. “He has a good amount of energy for walks and has demonstrated good leash manners.”

The fun-loving Oakley is also a chill guy. He’ll happily join a human or two for a slow afternoon of reading or watching movies.

“This laid-back dog is waiting to meet you and join you for his active golden years,” the volunteer wrote. “Contact the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria to meet Oakley!”

Oakley can be visited during the shelter’s regular adoption hours.
