Adoptable Pet of the Week: Jax, a ‘shaggy dog full of fun personality’

Meet Jax, an adorably furry four-legged friend and resident of the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria.

The five-year-old pooch weighs about 40 pounds and is starting to settle into his mature personality, making him “ideal for adopters who prefer to skip the rambunctious puppy phase,” according to an AWLA volunteer.

“Jax is a shaggy dog full of fun personality,” they wrote. “You may not be able to see his eyes through his raven fur, but they’re sure to melt hearts through the power of his sweet soul.”

Jax is searching for a home where he will receive regular exercise and grooming for his handsome coat, as well as tasty treat rewards for cooperation.

He is crate-trained and has been a successful housemate to young children in the past, according to his online profile.

“If this stunning dog seems like a good fit for your life, contact the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria today,” the volunteer wrote. “Jax can’t wait to meet you!”

AWLA adoption fees for dogs and cats over six months old are being waived through Wednesday, Dec. 31.

Jax can be visited during the shelter’s regular adoption hours.
