Three months after he allegedly assaulted Alexandria police officers in the Carlyle neighborhood and fled the scene, Chukwunyere Onuoha has been apprehended in Texas and is awaiting extradition back to Alexandria.

According to a release from APD, on Dec. 27, police responded to a report of an individual in a domestic dispute in the 2400 block of Mandeville Lane, near the Hoffman Town Center. APD said they located Onuoha in the nearby 200 block of Swamp Fox Road.

“As Onuoha fled the scene, he struck one officer with his vehicle, and another officer was injured while trying to avoid being hit by the suspect,” APD said. “Both officers were transported to Fairfax Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and have since been treated and released.”

In the release, APD said Onuoha has multiple warrants across the country in addition to facing charges for assault and battery on law enforcement, hit and run and more in Alexandria.

According to a release from the Alexandria Police Department (APD), members of the APD Special Investigations Unit tracked Onuoha down to Texas on Tuesday, March 15, and worked with the Houston Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force to arrest him.

“As a result of these efforts, Mr. Onuoha was apprehended without incident in Houston,” the release said. “Mr. Onuoha is currently being held in Houston, Texas, and is awaiting extradition to Alexandria, Virginia to face charges for assault and battery on law enforcement, hit and run, and other offenses.”
