Diners in Alexandria will have to look elsewhere to find the flavors of Uzbekistan and Russia.
Rus Uz closed at Alexandria’s Hoffman Town Center (210 Hoffman Street) on Aug. 31 at the lease end, owner Ismoil Rakhmatullaev told ALXnow. The Uzbek family-owned restaurant’s other locations remain open at 1000 N. Randolph Street #3a in Arlington and 2600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW in D.C.
The family decided to close the Alexandria location when the lease reached the end. The location dates back to 2018.
“AMC has been a fantastic landlord, and we sincerely thank the AMC Theatres team for their partnership over the past eight years,” Rakhmatullaev said. “We are equally grateful to the Alexandria community for its support and the many wonderful memories we have shared.”
Rakhmatullaev encouraged patrons to continue enjoying the restaurant’s Russian and Uzbek cuisine at the Arlington and D.C. locations.
While Rus Uz has vacated Hoffman Town Center, other restaurants are on the way. The long-awaited Ted’s Bulletin, originally slated for 2023, is still in the works at 2471 Mandeville Lane. D.C.’s Honeymoon Chicken is also expected to tentatively open this year at 2461 Mandeville Lane. Both will be located at Carlyle Crossing, an expansion of Hoffman Town Center.
