A 29-year-old Alexandria man is being held without bond after being arrested last month for drug and firearm possession outside of his West End apartment.
After being tracked traveling from New York, the suspect was arrested in a vehicle outside his apartment building in the 2000 block of N. Beauregard Street on Wednesday, Aug. 26. Earlier in the month, an investigator with the Arlington County Police Department alerted the Alexandria Police Department that it was investigating claims that the suspect was pressing and selling kilograms of cocaine from apartments in Arlington and Alexandria, according to a recently released search warrant affidavit.
APD also found that the suspect is a convicted felon with an active warrant for his arrest related to an alleged narcotics offense in Prince William County, according to the affidavit.
The suspect was arrested outside with a kilogram of suspected cocaine inside of his fanny pack, according to the affidavit. Inside his apartment, police found three firearms (two in a drawer in the kitchen, another in a kitchen cabinet), 829.1 grams of cocaine split into numerous bags, eight 16 fluid-ounce bottles of codeine, kilo presses and bulk U.S. currency.
The suspect was charged with distributing more than 500 grams of cocaine, transporting more than 10 ounces of cocaine to Virginia, displaying a firearm while selling Schedule I/II drugs and being a nonviolent felon in possession of a firearm within 10 years of his conviction.
The suspect’s preliminary hearing is on Oct. 13.
