Del Ray Pizzeria rebrands as Del Ray Public House, plans new upstairs concept

Del Ray Public House unveiled its new branding this week, officially moving on from its 16-year-old Del Ray Pizzeria concept.

The Del Ray Pizzeria initials remain on the signage at 2218 Mount Vernon Avenue, and pizza stays on the menu, but the overall focus of the business started changing in January with the introduction of new Southwest-inspired flavors, owner Laurel Fisher told ALXnow.

“I felt like there were things that were really missing in the neighborhood,” Fisher said. “We really need a place where everyone can feel at home and get a hearty meal, and I’m bringing in new flavors that are high quality but with a reasonable price.”

The restaurant has experimented with several concepts for its upstairs bar, including Dreampt and Flipside Speakeasy. Fisher said she will bring in a partner within the next month to open a new Italian sausage and hot dog concept called Cubbies in the upstairs bar space.

“We’re bringing a lot to the menu,” Fisher said. “We’re bringing delicious, affordable steaks that are out of this world, an incredible deal.”
