The Department of Beer and Wine finally has a new home in Del Ray.
The gourmet beer and wine shop held a soft opening over the weekend at its new location at 2805 Mount Vernon Avenue. The location was formerly occupied by the ASAP Printing and Mailing Company and shares the building with a Truist bank.
“We still can’t believe we found the most incredible spot on Mount Vernon Avenue, and with so much parking,” the DBW team said on Facebook. “It’s also amazing that we are still off Raymond Ave, but finally in the heart of Del Ray like we always wanted to be.”
The Department of Beer and Wine opened eight years ago, a half-mile away at 2724 Richmond Highway in Potomac Yard. The business announced its new location in February to DBW Wine Club members before closing in March.
Store owners Stevie Treichel and Melissa and Jeff Sapsford specialize in selling sustainable wines and international and local craft beer.
According to DBW:
We go wild for and have an increasingly large selection of organic, bio-dynamic, low-intervention natural wines, along with a thoughtfully curated selection of gourmet snacks, hot sauces, chocolates, gummy candy, ice cream, gelato, frozen foods, and non-alcoholic beverages.
The company is currently selling its annual advent calendar with 24 holiday beers for $150, wine Advent calendars ranging from $150 to $300, monthly membership in the DBW Growler Club for $60, and monthly membership in the DBW Wine Club for $50.
