All city administrative offices are scheduled to close next Thursday and Friday in observance of Thanksgiving, although some community facilities will still have Friday hours.
The closures will prompt half days at some departments next Wednesday. All city courts, health facilities and the Alexandria Law Library intend to close at noon next Wednesday, Nov. 26.
Trash, recycling, and yard waste collections will follow the normal collection service schedule through the holiday. Curbside food waste will not be collected on Thanksgiving, and the schedule will slide by one day for the rest of the week.
On Thanksgiving, DASH will operate on a weekend schedule without Lines 102, 103 and 104, before returning to a regular weekday schedule on Friday. The King Street Trolley will continue to run daily every 15 minutes from 11 a.m.-11 p.m.

Friday hours at some facilities
The following Historic Alexandria museums plan to open Friday from 11 a.m.-4 p.m.

- Alexandria History Museum at The Lyceum
- Fort Ward Museum
- Freedom House Museum
- Gadsby’s Tavern Museum
- Stabler-Leadbeater Apothecary Museum
Additionally, these recreation facilities will open from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
- Chinquapin Park Recreation Center & Aquatics Facility
- Charles Houston Recreation Center
- Patrick Henry Recreation Center
Finally, the Torpedo Factory Art Center will open from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
Throughout the holiday, emergency hotlines for Child Protective Services, Adult Protective Services, domestic violence, sexual assault and mental health services will continue to operate at all hours of the day.
