Red Barn Mercantile to host annual ‘Holiday Unveiling’ in Old Town tomorrow

A longtime boutique in Old Town is getting ready to spread some wintery holiday cheer in the week following Halloween.

Red Barn Mercantile is hosting its annual Holiday Unveiling at 6 p.m. tomorrow (Thursday) at 1117 King Street. The festive gathering will reveal a “winter wonderland” of new holiday decorations and gifts at the boutique, along with complimentary treats and party favors.

Guests at the 2025 unveiling can gawk at the boutique’s 11 newly decorated Christmas trees while dining on a “grazing board” from Maryland-based mobile bar, Vintage Views, and sweet treats provided by pastry chef Alex Mudry-Till.

Party favors, which are yet to be revealed, will feature custom lettering from Alexandria’s Meant To Be Calligraphy.

“We can’t wait to share the magic of the season with our community,” owner Amy Rutherford said in a release. “This is our favorite night of the year, and we are so excited to show off what we created this year.  It is something truly special.”

This is the local business’ 17th year hosting the seasonal celebration. Its neighboring sister stores, Penny Post and Pippin Toy Co., will also participate in the “enchanting evening” with extended store hours until 9 p.m.

The Thursday gathering will also come with some discounts totaling up to 30% on select gifts, available in-store and online.
