How much is Grandma’s old brooch worth? You can find out next month, as antique appraisals are coming to Del Ray.
On Thursday, Sept. 4, experts in American furniture, rare books, autographs, and clothing will be on hand from 6 to 8 p.m. in the parking lot of Del Ray Psych and Wellness (1900 Mount Vernon Avenue).
“Walk-ups are welcome,” DRBA said. “However, those interested in attending are encouraged to provide information on the object and upload pictures here.“
The experts at the event are:
-
Oscar Fitzgerald — American furniture historian, author, former director of the Navy Museum and educator to faculty at the Smithsonian and George Washington University
-
Dale Sorenson – Rare books, maps, and autographs specialist.
-
Crystal Gitchell – Vintage clothing specialist, owner of Marchioness Vintage
The event is part of Del Ray’s monthly First Thursday series, sponsored by the Del Ray Business Association and Monika Schiavo from Coldwell Banker Realty. It is also the last First Thursday event of the year.
Adding to the family-friendly atmosphere, Pat Miller Neighborhood Square (2311 Mount Vernon Avenue) will host the “Future Treasures Kids Art Zone,” where children can create sun-catchers, self-portraits, and sidewalk chalk masterpieces.
