Free music festival in Del Ray to benefit youth outdoor programs

Get ready to dance, because the third annual Wilderness Kids Alexandria Music Festival is around the corner.

The free family-friendly event will be held Sunday, Sept. 28, from 12 to 5 p.m., at Pat Miller Neighborhood Square (2311 Mount Vernon Avenue). Local bands the MAYSUNS, the Derds (Del Ray Dads), Beachface, and Czars of Leisure will perform, and the fundraising event includes raffles, craft-making, and lawn games.

Wilderness Kids Alexandria was founded in 2022 by Jerry Casagrande and provides after-school programs for the city’s middle schoolers. The nonprofit will be raising donations.

“All proceeds will fund programs that get teens outside climbing, surfing. skiing, camping and exploring,” Wilderness Kids said in the event listing.

The event is sponsored by Alexandria Toyota, Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP, Latham & Watkins LLP, and James Crowe Realty.
