🚨 You need to know
Alexandria dog owners can treat their furry companions to a refreshing end-of-summer swim this Saturday (Aug. 16) as the city launches its annual Dog Swim series at Memorial Pool.
The free event, scheduled for Aug. 16 from 10 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. at Memorial Pool on 901 Wythe St., offers four 45-minute sessions exclusively for dogs and their owners. Unlike the Memorial Pool session, which is limited to dogs under 25 pounds, the city notes that “friendly dogs of all sizes” are welcome, though the provided information contains conflicting details about size restrictions.
Registration is required and limited to one slot per dog, with owners able to choose from sessions at 10-10:45 a.m., 11-11:45 a.m., 12-12:45 p.m., or 1-1:45 p.m. All participating dogs must provide proof of current rabies vaccination.
The Memorial Pool event marks the first of three Dog Swim dates planned for this summer and fall. Additional sessions are scheduled for Sept. 6 at Warwick Pool on 3301 Landover St., and Sept. 27 at Old Town Pool on 1609 Cameron St. These later events will accommodate dogs of all sizes with four sessions each.
Dog owners can register online through the city’s recreation website. Memorial Pool offers free parking and is located one block from a DASH bus stop, making it accessible for families without vehicles.
