
According to the Virginia Department of Transportation, drivers on Interstate 395 near the Pentagon on Friday and Saturday night can expect traffic shifts in both directions.
The work is part of a project to repair joints and other “minor” repairs at several bridges on I-395.
According to VDOT:
Weather permitting, the northbound I-395 general purpose lanes will have lane closures Friday night, May 9, and the southbound I-395 general purpose lanes will have lane closures Saturday night, May 10, near the Pentagon to implement temporary traffic shifts as part of a bridge project, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.
Northbound I-395 general purpose lanes at bridge over South Fern Street (located about a half mile beyond northbound Exit 8C to Route 1 South, Pentagon City, Crystal City, Reagan National Airport)
- 10 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday, May 9: One lane closed
- 11 p.m. Friday, May 9, to 6 a.m. Saturday, May 10: Two lanes closed
- 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. Saturday, May 10: One lane closed
- (Backup, if needed) 10 p.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, May 10: One lane closed
- (Backup, if needed) 11 p.m. Saturday, May 10, to 6 a.m. Sunday, May 11: Two lanes closed

Southbound I-395 general purpose lanes at bridge over two ramps (located about a quarter mile beyond southbound Exit 8A to Pentagon South Parking, Route 27/Washington Boulevard, South Arlington Ridge Road)

- 11 p.m. Saturday, May 10, to 6 a.m. Sunday, May 11: Two lanes closed
- 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. Sunday, May 11: One lane closed

Once the traffic shifts are in place, the northbound and southbound I-395 lanes will be shifted to the right at their respective bridges until late summer.
