Alexandria Police Week to honor fallen officers

The Alexandria Police Department (APD) is inviting the community to participate in Alexandria Police Week, a series of events that honor fallen officers and support their families.

The department shared details about the upcoming events on Facebook on May 3.

“This week, we invite our community to come together for Alexandria Police Week — a time of solemn remembrance and deep appreciation. We honor our brave law enforcement officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice, and we stand in unwavering support of those who continue to serve with courage and integrity,” APD shares.

This week-long observance includes several memorial ceremonies and ways for the public to pay tribute to fallen officers.

The events start with a Waterfront Wreath Laying ceremony at 9 a.m. on May 6 at Waterfront Park. Later that day, there’s a Memorial Church Service at 11 a.m. at First Assembly of God (700 W. Braddock Rd.), followed by lunch.

On May 7, the APD will hold a Wreath-Laying Ceremony at 1 p.m. at the Fallen Officers Memorial in front of APD Headquarters (3600 Wheeler Ave.).

“Join us for memorial ceremonies and opportunities to pay tribute to our fallen officers. Your presence matters. Let’s come together to remember, reflect, and support the survivors and family members of those who paid the ultimate price for our safety,” APD shares.
