Spring2ACTion raises more than $2.9M for Alexandria nonprofits

ACT for Alexandria hosted another record-breaking Spring2ACTion, Alexandria’s Giving Day, on Wednesday (April 9).

Celebrating its 15th anniversary, this year’s Spring2ACTion engaged 7,254 donors to raise $2,935,983 for the 193 participating local nonprofit organizations (as of 5:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 10).

Spring2ACTion is more than just a day of giving—it’s a powerful demonstration of what we can achieve when we come together as a community,” says Heather Peeler, President & CEO of ACT.

While the official giving day is over, donors can still use the online platform (www.Spring2ACTion.org) to make donations until 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, April 13. They can search by organization name or cause and donate through their mobile phone, tablet, or computer.

“Alexandria is a special place. People choose to live and work in Alexandria because it is a vibrant, diverse, and welcoming community. We have high caliber and resourceful nonprofit organizations, and generous and engaged residents, businesses and faith communities,” Peeler explains. ACT strives to bring the community together to create a place where everyone feels a sense of belonging – and where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

“We are so grateful for all of the donors, nonprofits, businesses, and sponsors that participated in this year’s incredible event,” says Peeler. “Strong nonprofits are even more important as we navigate the uncertainty and challenges in today’s world.  By giving together and working collaboratively, we are stabilizing vital services and continuing to advance the public good. Thank you for standing with us and supporting our local nonprofits and the community we love.”

Since its inception in 2011, Spring2ACTion, the only citywide giving day in the region, has raised more than $25 million for the nonprofit sector and each year the local business community has played a significant role.
