New residents at 9 East Del Ray Avenue, be aware: if you ever decide to join a Presidential ticket, it could stir up frustrations with neighbors when it leads to the Secret Service and the City of Alexandria closing the neighborhood park next door.
Washingtonian reported that JD Vance’s home at 9 East Del Ray Avenue has been listed for sale.
Update: As of Tuesday, March 4, the property’s listing status is “pending.”
The home features five bedrooms and an ADU in the backyard. Washingtonian reported that Vance bought the home in 2023 for $1.6 million and moved out earlier this year when he took up residence at the U.S. Naval Observatory — the traditional home for vice presidents.
The home resulted in the temporary closure of Judy Lowe Neighborhood Park next door after assassination attempts against President Donald Trump during the campaign.
Neighbors in Del Ray, described by the Washington post as a “liberal enclave“, held a tongue-in-cheek farewell party to the park where neighbors simultaneously expressed disappointment with the park closure and accepted it as a necessary precaution.
Despite the tense relationship between Vance and neighbors, where front yards were covered with anti-Trump and anti-Vance yard signs, a former Trump administration official described the neighborhood as welcoming and said when push comes to shove, despite political differences, Del Ray residents can be relied on to look out for each other.
