We have really bad news for the commentor on the story about JD Vance becoming Trump’s running mate who said “I hope secret service doesn’t close the Judy Lowe Park to expand the security buffer!”

The Secret Service is closing Judy Lowe Park to expand the security buffer.

Technically, the City of Alexandria is closing the Judy Lowe Neighborhood Park, in cooperation with a request from the United States Secret Service. The city is also closing the unit block of E. Del Ray Avenue to resident-traffic only.

“Beginning Sunday, August 25, and in response to a request from the United States Secret Service (USSS), the Judy Lowe Neighborhood Park, located at 1 & 7 E. Del Ray Ave., will be temporarily closed until further notice,” the city said in a notice. “Additionally, the unit block of E. Del Ray Ave. (between Commonwealth Ave. and Clyde Ave.) will be restricted to resident traffic only.”

The city’s website said the closure is to “provide security for a Secret Service Protectee” and JD Vance’s home is adjacent to the park. The notice said the block and park will be closed until further notice. Travel lanes, bike lanes and sidewalks will remain open and unaffected during the closure, but there will be no on-street parking on the east side of the 2200 block of Commonwealth Avenue.
