DASH removes bus and trolley stops on King Street in bid to boost reliability

Alexandria’s DASH bus network is hoping that cutting half a dozen bus stops along King Street — as well as adding two others — can help make the bus and King Street Trolley lines that travel along the street more reliable and help reduce traffic congestion.

In a release, DASH said the new changes were implemented effective yesterday (Sunday).

According to the release:

Effective Sunday, February 23, DASH will begin Phase One of the King Street Improvement Project, with lines 30, 31, and the King Street Trolley now sharing stops between King Street Metro Station and City Hall.

The improvements will help reduce delays, improve service reliability, and reduce traffic congestion along the King Street Corridor, providing riders and residents with a smoother, simpler, and more accessible experience.

The changes include removing:

  • EB King St & S. Peyton St
  • EB King St & S. Alfred St
  • EB King St & S. St. Asaph St
  • NB N. Fairfax St & Cameron St
  • WB King St & N. St. Asaph St
  • WB King St & N. Peyton St

DASH is also adding stops at:

  • EB King St & S. Pitt St
  • WB King St & N. Pitt St
