Patch reported that construction is underway in Old Town North on the conversion of a vacant office building to a new apartment building.
The project by Carr Properties would turn 425 Montgomery Street, an office building, into a 237-unit apartment building.
Carr Properties said in a release that the company closed on financing for the $141 million project.
“Construction for the project previously commenced, with the groundbreaking scheduled for next month,” the project website said.
Carr acquired the site in Spring 2024 and the project is expected to be complete sometime by late 2026.
“Standing eight stories tall, the development will offer studio to three-bedroom units, as well as best-in-class amenities including an outdoor pool and resident lounge/amenity center,” the project website said. “Approximately one-third of the units will boast picturesque views of the Potomac River.”
