Six homes on new cul-de-sac proposed for Seminary Hill

A fairly quiet corner of Seminary Hill off Quaker Lane could become a new cluster of homes built around a new cul-de-sac.

A proposal for a new cluster of homes at 1 and 2 N. Clarens Street, called Clarens Estates, is scheduled for review at the Planning Commission meeting tonight (Tuesday).

The new development would include the demolition of the existing detached home built in the 1970s and other buildings at the site.

The proposal requires a special use permit for reduced front and side yard setbacks, lot frontage and other issues. Each home would be two stories with a basement and attached two-car garage.

The project will come with a $117,117 contribution to affordable housing and will involve invasive species removal for bamboo overgrown across the site.

City staff is recommending approval for the project. The Planning Commission has the authority to approve the project, but it will be going to the City Council on Feb. 22 for vacation approval.
