Alexandria likely has a higher-than-average concentration of American history buffs, which means there could be some stiff competition at Port City Brewing Company’s American History Trivia event next week.

The competition is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 16, at Port City Brewing Company (3950 Wheeler Avenue).

“In honor of George Washington’s birthday celebration this upcoming February, we are hosting American History Trivia on Thursday, January 16th,” the event listing said. “We are covering 5 categories of US History, from the beginning facts you learned in Elementary School to a modern array of accomplishments. Timing nicely with the Presidential Inauguration, let’s take a look back at how we made it here!”

The winner will be crowned Port City Trivia Champion. Teams (of no more than six) should register in advance.

The George Washington’s Birthday Celebration Committee will also be there collecting donations and looking for sponsors and parade participants for the birthday parade on Saturday Feb 15th.

Port City said the new restaurant La Tingeria will be open serving dinner and snacks.
