The Bellies and Babies consignment shop space may not be empty for long: a nearby business owner is planning on converting it to a market and garden space.
According to a new special use permit, Del Ray Hardware store owner Jay Portlance is planning on converting the space to Del Ray Farmhouse Market & Garden.
Part of the permit also specifies that the parking lot will be converted to a garden center with live plants, soils, lawn tools and a greenhouse. The shop will offer six parking spaces off-site.
The project designs also show a future seating area for a market on what’s today the front lawn of the building with a pergola offering protection for Garden Center plants along the street.
The business will be open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
