Notes: Alexandria man arrested for series of ABC store thefts

An Alexandria man has been arrested in connection to a spree of liquor store thefts around the region.

The Alexandria man, identified in a release from the Fairfax County Police Department as Joseph Womack, was charged with six counts of petit larceny after allegedly hitting six ABC stores around the region in a two-day span. Video surveilence footage shows a man grabbing high-end tequila and cognac in coats and bags and then quickly exiting the store.

ABC store thefts have been on the rise so much other Virginia localities have asked Virginia ABC to take over theft investigations because they’re a strain on police resources.
