A new head spa just opened on King Street in Old Town.
Meraki Head Spa soft launched last week at 320 King Street. Owner Kathleen Le has held onto the space since moving her beauty parlor Salon Meraki to 1101 Queen Street in 2021, and started renovating the 900 square-foot space in August. She added eight beds, seven staffers, ambient music and turned off the lights.
“I want to promote self-care,” Le said. “We all have our struggles and stresses. Everyone has different stresses, but this is something that I want people to understand. It’s not selfish to do self care come in, and especially you don’t have to talk. Nobody gonna talk to you. You can lay there, you can think work or whatever, or you can not think about and just enjoy that one hour.
The result is a relaxing experience where customers get facials, their hair washed, as well as neck and shoulder massages in 45-minute or hour-long sessions.
“It felt great,” said customer Jennifer Coco after a recent hour-long session. “I might be here every time it’s time to wash my hair.”
Meraki Head Spa offers $75 for 45-minute sessions and $130 for an hour.
