Alexandria Living Magazine reported that construction has started on a new affordable housing project at 4575 Seminary Road.
Demolition at the project occurred earlier this year.
The Seminary Road development is being built by non-profit Housing Alexandria and will have three units (serving up to 12 residents) set aside for housing and services for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
The rest of the development includes 36 homes available to own for those making up to 80% of Area Median Income.

Interested buyers must meet eligibility and educational requirements to purchase in this community:
- Be a first-time homebuyer who has lived or worked in the City of Alexandria for at least six months
- Make up to mathematically 80% of the Area Median Income
- Take Housing Alexandria’s introductory course (dates to be announced), Virginia Housing’s Homebuyer program, and meet with homeownership counselors
