Cora Kelly School for Math, Science and Technology has a new principal to usher in the new school year.
Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) announced earlier this month that Molly McCabe will be stepping into the shoes of Jasibi Crews, ACPS’ Principal of the Year last year who left at the end of the 2023-2024 school year.
A release from ACPS said McCabe began teaching in 2004 and started in ACPS in 2014.
“Before becoming an administrator, McCabe was a second grade teacher and team leader at John Adams Elementary School,” the release said. “Prior to her teaching career, she worked for the national non-profit Break Away, an organization focused on social justice, collaboration and leadership.”
ACPS said McCabe’s administrative career started as assistant principal of the Early Childhood Center at John Adams Elementary School in 2021. The release said her mission there was to welcome and affirm families, celebrate rich diversity in the community and empower the youngest students as they grow and learn.
“I am excited to welcome Molly McCabe as the new principal of Cora Kelly School for Math, Science, and Technology. She brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive educational environment,” said Chief Academic Officer Dr. Pierrette Finney. “Her dedication to empowering students and engaging families in the learning process makes her an invaluable addition to our leadership team.”
