As families around Alexandria get ready for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year, Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) is hoping for some help from the community to make life a little easier for some students and parents.
ACPS is running its 2024 Backpack and School Supply Drive with donors able to purchase backpacks and supplies for students from a wishlist or via direct donations.
“Every summer we can’t wait to welcome Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) students back into our school buildings for another year of dynamic and engaging learning,” ACPS said in a release. “We are just as eager to help make sure that students start off the new school year right–by connecting them with essential school supplies and backpacks that community organizations all across Alexandria are collecting or distributing.”
The goal for the upcoming year is to collect 3,500 backpacks with school supplies by Friday, Aug. 9, to distribute across all ACPS schools and students. For families in need of a backpack and supplies for their student, ACPS said they can register to receive the supplies via their school social worker.
