Alexandrians frustrated with the city’s Housing for Zoning reform package approved last year have been following a lawsuit over a similar zoning change in Arlington.

This week, Patch reported that a circuit court judge rejected Arlington’s request for an immediate appeal of the lawsuit, meaning the lawsuit will go to trial.

A group of 10 homeowners in Arlington are trying to have Arlington’s missing Middle Housing reforms. Like Alexandria’s Housing for Zoning reforms, those eliminated single-family-only zoning, among other changes.

Patch reported that Judge David Schell said granting the appeal could create a delay of two or more years, which Schell said is not in either party’s interest.

A five-day trial is scheduled for July 8.
